Ocean Signal is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of Satellite and Terrestrial Emergency Rescue Beacons based upon VHF/UHF, Iridium, DSC, AIS, GNSS and battery technologies; supplying products throughout the world to four main markets: - Commercial Marine, Leisure Marine, Governmental/Military and Land/Recreational.


The Product Manager is required to investigate, understand and be able to exploit the marketing space including market segmentation and analysis, customer insight, requirements gathering and the development of marketing materials. Provide market intelligence, business cases and Voice of Customer requirements for new product development or new market program development within the own area of responsibility. To be a key member of new product development team you will facilitate the actualization of market requirements and guide these from concept to launch; activities will include development and delivery of business cases, product requirements and representation of these, working closely with the R&D teams for the delivery of new market relevant products and solutions for the maritime and land products to ensure a fit within the ACR group business model. To maintain and communicate a knowledge base of our current portfolio of products and future technologies which offer the opportunity to enhance the ACR Group Maritime and land product line. These activities will extend to provide technical support to our Customer Service team.

  • Build knowledge and expertise on the products and be the subject matter expert for your portfolio as you are a key point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Interface to the business unit to capture all market requirements, and be responsible for translating these market requirements into product and service requirements.
  • Define, develop, document and manage products and services requirements both in a leading and a supporting role in order to ensure that all technical, commercial and operational activities and preparations are completed to support successful commercial launches of new products and services.
  • Manage the product portfolio throughout its life-cycle, providing in-life support and drive resolutions to issues and problems.
  • Control and monitor the performance of the products that are assigned to you. Ensure the ongoing and long term profitability of each product and the portfolio as a whole, and recommend actions to keep the products commercial relevant and profitable.
  • Implement and maintain the roadmap for existing and new products and services.
  • Interface to the R&D and NPI teams for the development and delivery of new products and services where.
  • Provide relevant product information to assist the business units and marketing teams to develop the market messaging, collateral materials and occasionally support bid and proposal (B&P) responses to commercial opportunities.
  • Contribute to customer testing of new products and services with operations, customer support, partners and customers to drive market adoption of new services.
  • Support the schedule for product development and roll-out activities, identifying dependencies and ensuring timely roll-out to meet business goals.
  • Coordinate and prepare or update product materials including product documentation, process documentation, reference guides and training programs for all new products and services. Ensure that all product documentation on the various portals is up to date.
  • Work with the Business Unit and product marketing on market adoption progress, as well as evaluate issues, market challenges and new (pricing) requirements, with incorporation of approved changes to the roadmap.
  • Be customer focused and build relationships with our channel partners and end-users


Essential Knowledge and Skills


  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in product management.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in maritime communications products and/or services
  • HNC/HND or Degree in a field related to wireless communications or equivalent
  • Experience in the Terrestrial and Satellite communications products and services
  • Experience of Maritime Navigational Communications.
  • Proven experience and record of delivering targets within a product management role/
  • A passion and motivation to continuously improve the product, processes, systems and work practices
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly, organizing and leading the execution of project tasks across multiple internal and partner teams;
  • Excellent spoken and written communication in the English language, as well as the ability to raise action points with clarity and confidence in the presence of senior management.
  • A track record of working with distributed teams and meeting established deadlines for program milestones are essential.
  • High proficiency in MS Office plus ability to drive new systems from improved working practices


Desirable Knowledge and Skills


  • Understanding of telecoms and spectrum science and technology
  • Experience of product type approval to International Standards
  • Knowledge of RF or digital electronics would be an advantage
  • Exposure to Service Delivery, logistics and supply chain environment
  • Experience of process mapping
