Overview

This position is primarily responsible for global consolidations and corporate accounting tasks. These activities include analysis of financial data at a consolidated level, elimination of investments and intercompany transactions, coordinating and communicating global intercompany transaction with global accounting teams, foreign transaction translations, and preparing various consolidated reports in Hyperion/Oracle Financial Consolidation software, pertinent to the completion of the company’s consolidated financial statements. A successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to effectively work cross functionally and intensively with the multiple groups including CFO, Corporate Controllers & VPs, local accounting teams, and Treasury department.

Responsibilities

Major Responsibility Areas

 

  1. Global Consolidations and Corporate Accounting Activities
  • Oversee financial consolidations and intercompany eliminations for multiple domestic and foreign subsidiaries; foreign currency translation and remeasurement accounting matters
  • Oversee preparation and communication of month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial and management reporting and financial statements such as profit & loss statements, balance sheets and cash flows, and management discussion and analysis (MD&A)
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting
  • Review corporate month-end closing activities including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocations
  • Oversee intercompany reconciliations and settlements among the subsidiaries
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems
  • Complete analysis of monthly financial results; develop recommendations (strategic and tactical) for all subsidiaries
  • Support VP of Finance in oversight of all departments, cost centers and domestic and foreign subsidiaries to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions; develop finance staff
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits and coordination with subsidiaries; prepare consolidated financial statements and related footnote disclosures
  • Guide team as an accounting subject matter with thorough understanding of GAAP
  • Assist for annual budgeting process loading into the Company’s consolidation system to ensure global budgeting and consolidation
  1. Corporate Development and Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Engage in M&A post close activities and integration of acquired companies, plan and conduct audits of opening balance sheets, prepare net working capital calculations and purchase accounting journal entries, and develop valuation assumptions and reports
  • Support CFO & VP of Finance in analysis and execution of various business initiatives (e.g. opening new operations and distribution centers, asset acquisition, new service launches)
  • Prepare various analyses and reports required by corporate development efforts, internal and external users, executive management and the Board of Directors

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  1. Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting required, MBA a plus
  2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  3. Minimum 5 years of experience with 2 years of corporate accounting experience
  4. Public accounting experience with Big 4 preferred
  5. Experience in private sector and/or in private equity owned sector; experience in manufacturing industry a plus
  6. Highly skilled in Microsoft Office, excellent excel skills
  7. Excellent systems skills; experience with various ERP systems and consolidation software, specifically working knowledge of Hyperion/Oracle Financial Consolidation preferred
  8. Strong technical accounting experience
  9. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  10. Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills
  11. Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus strong organization skills
  12. Demonstrated ability to work under time pressure
