The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and evaluate computer software applications.

    Responsibilities

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    Researches, designs, and develops embedded firmware for RF-based emergency beacons for the marine, aviation, outdoor, and military markets. Hands-on experience developing low-level device drivers and interfaces, including but not limited to I2C, SPI, SDIO, and USB is preferred.

    • Derives software development and test requirements from given system-level requirements.
    • Performs concurrent hardware/software development and system-level integration.
    • Designs and implements low-level embedded firmware such as bootloaders, device drivers, and diagnostics for RF test/calibration.
    • Performs bare-metal development of test software for evaluation of new integrated circuits and prototype development boards.
    • Develops and maintains software tools and firmware for RF control and production test.
    • Performs current-drain analysis and firmware optimization to meet battery life specifications.
    • Collaborates closely with hardware, software, manufacturing, marketing, compliance, and quality group members within and outside of project team.
    • DO178 level D Experience a plus

    Qualifications

    Required / Desired Knowledge, Experiences and Skills:

    • BSEE, BSCE, or BSCS with emphasis on embedded software and consumer product development, MS preferred.
    • Digital Signal Processing and Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum experience with emphasis on digital modulation techniques, BPSK, QPSK, QAM, preferred.
    • Five years or more experience developing embedded software/firmware for ARM-based architectures, TI, and ST microcontrollers.
    • Experience with GPS and navigation systems a plus.
    • Agile software development experience a plus.
    • Experience with automated test systems for manufacturing.
    • Hands on experience programming with Microsoft Visual Studio and microprocessor development systems a plus.
    • Experience with LabWindows/CVI, LabView, software design applications a plus.
    • Experience with RF and military communications systems a plus.
