    The Design Engineer will research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products or components.


    Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Member of the design team responsible for specific piece part design, structural analysis, evaluation and assigned duties related to product introduction to manufacturing 
    • Use computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs and generate drawings for standard and custom products
    • Design injection molded parts and sheet metal piece parts utilizing solid modeling software
    • Assemble and debug prototypes of new designs 
    • Support manufacturing on a regular basis on ongoing products through trouble shooting and problem solving related to specific projects assigned
    • Evaluate suggestions made by manufacturing, such as ECR's (Engineering Change Requests), and use best judgment to convert the suggestion to an applicable change through an ECO (Engineering Change Order) 
    • Work with purchasing in placing orders for necessary raw materials. Research new component suitability and availability
    • Review drafting and PC layout documentation 
    • Visit vendor sites to answer questions, demonstrate product acceptability and resolve technical design issues
    • Provide technical direction to technicians and other support personnel 
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the industry and profession 
    • Basic and continuous knowledge of and compliance with ISO9001 specifications and requirements
    • Research and analyze data such as design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application 
    • Plan and provide direction to engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems
    • Coordinate fabrication activities with manufacturing to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications 
    • Evaluate prototypes and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions
    • Other duties and tasks may be assigned


    Required / Desired Knowledge, Experiences and Skills:

    • 3+ years' experience in a related field 
    • Knowledge of plastic injection molding process, machining process, sheet metal fabrication, and rapid prototype fabrication
    • Computer Aided Design background in the area of solid modeling
    • Experience with Solid Works software desired.


    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required

    Physical Working Environment:


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
